I am the “68 year old” attendee mentioned from the floor. I found all presentations quite fascinating and even got inspired by one on the easter weekend. Happy to network any time.

Greetings all!
I am interested in deliberative & participatory democracy and the way I go about this is via open data. Public data are created by all levels of government for governing (e.g. Census, Radarsat data). My work as of late, has been toward making OUR public data sets available to the public at no cost, in machine readable open and accessible formats within a creative common or the like legal infrastructure. Open Data is one way for Canadians to have what they need to inform public policy decisions along with our governors. Some of my uses public data can be seen in this atlas (http://gcrc.carleton.ca/homelessness) or these reports (http://www.fcm.ca/English/View.asp?mp=1237&x=1115). I have a particular interest in the preservation of scientific data, communication & geospatial data infrastructures, cybercartography and olfactory media. Here are a few things I am involved with:

Already posted here in detail but forgot contact information! I’ve contributed to the start-up and growth of two different charities in Ottawa, LiveWorkPlay (http://liveworkplay.ca) where I am CEO and we are undergoing an important shift from social services to social change, and Heartwood House (http://heartwoodhouse.ca) where I am currently Chair of the Board of Directors and leading a Strategic Planning process to position the organization for stability and growth to 2014. I am a graduate of the MA in Linguistics and Applied Languages Studies at Carleton and currently completing the Non-Profit Marketing professional certificate at Sprott/Carleton.
I am hungry for ideas an inspiration beyond my own little world! Very much looking forward to this event and grateful for the opportunity.

Hey Everyone!
As Clothbot says, only a few hours until the fun begins!
I’ve been living here in Ottawa for the last three years, despite being married to an Ottawa Valley boy for almost a decade. I’m an author, blogger, photographer and part time musician, and I’m certainly in awe of the company I’m included in! To quote a classic 90s film – I’m not worthy!
I’ve spent ten years in technical pursuits – from a major e-learning provider to independent work – before ditching it all for the lonely, poor paying, but happy and satisfying world of writing (almost) full time.
I’m one of those people who is possessed of the curious mind, and got into the wonder of TED through Mary Roach. I’ve done a bit of everything in life, and have become a vocal advocate for the Creative Commons and Open Source software as well as the arts. I’ve been finding my feet in Ottawa, so I’ve been pretty quiet, but you can expect to hear more from me soon – especially since my first novel is coming out next month.
Looking forward to meeting creative, innovative people tonight!
Hey Everyone,
Only a few more hours left until the fun begins!
I’ve been living in Ottawa for nearly twelve years now, working as an engineer involved in one form or another in the integrated circuit (IC, aka semiconductor) design process (see http://www.linkedin.com/in/aplumb).
Now that I have two children and don’t travel quite so much I’ve been turning my focus more locally to see what I’ve been missing and more importantly what might be missing that I can do something about. It’s much easier to get and stay involved when you don’t have to travel out-of-country on a moment’s notice for weeks at a time!
I’ve been helping to get Ottawa ModLab started (a hackerspace; see http://hackerspaces.org/) in collaboration with ArtEngine (http://artengine.ca/). This involves among other things, carting along my MakerBot 3D printer (http://clothbot.com/wiki/MakerBotNumberNine) every other week to bounce around ideas. I’ll bring along some of my fabricated objects (I call them “fabjects”) tonight for folks to get hands-on with.
If you want to see it operational (barring technical glitches), I’ll be doing a PechaKucha Night 20×20 tomorrow night (March 31st) on the subject: http://www.pecha-kucha.org/night/ottawa/2

Later!

Hi, I’m Marios Perdiou, aka socializer.
I’m originally from Greece and currently I’m an international intern working for Carleton University. I’m member of AIESEC and in the past I was leading a project about China. My major is Information Technology, I have spent some cold nights studying in Finland. I have experience in internet marketing and I’m also interested in all things about management and entrepreneurship.
I cannot keep myself away from social media, networks and technology..
I’m looking forward to meet different kinds of people at this event. I have a feeling that the talks will be exciting!

See you all there!
Hello, all
I’m so excited to be joining you all tonight! Thanks to Luc and the organizers for pulling together what promises to be a fun and engaging evening!
I’m the manager of E-Communications for a research organization, managing content and information architecture for a crazy-large website (yes, that’s the technical term) as well as e-marketing and social media. I’m a survivor of the tech bust, having worked in several Kanata-based high-tech companies. I’ve done everything from GUI design to marcomms to business analysis. That’s what I love about the tech industry: there’s always a layoff around the corner and, with it, the opportunity to try something new
You can usually find me blogging (http://spydergrrl.blogspot.com) or Tweeting (http://www.twitter.com/spydergrrl) during my spare time. I am obsessed by new ideas which is why I’m pretty excited to meet some new people tonight! See you then!

I’m a volunteer for this year’s TEDxCarleton event, and I’m looking forward to networking with some bright people at this years TEDxCarleton! Thanks Luc and everyone else that made this event possible!
I’m a young entrepreneur in Ottawa, involved with a number of different ventures including OAK Computing, TopGear Media, and TalentBridge
I’m looking to network with people in town interested in mobile app development, and creating innovative business models involving mobile apps. Right now I have a focused interest in creating cross-platform frameworks between mobile apps, to create unique networked mobile solutions.
I’m also just interested in meeting smart and creative people in this great city!
Hi, I’m Colin Best and I am part of OCRI TalentBridge program with an number of other attendees at this event. I’m currently involved with a company in the enterprise mobility space in Kanata called Seregon Solutions (http://www.seregon.com).

Hi Everyone,
Looking forward to meeting you tonight! And to hearing all of the great ideas and presentations at what sounds like an amazing event!
I’m Eva-Jane Lark and I am a Vice-President and Investment Advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns. I also have a passionate interest in innovation and especially in Space development (the “Outer” kind) with a commercial/entrepreneurial focus. In that context, I created an interview series about Space and Business, have written a number of papers, presented at conferences on Space investment and financing, am on the Board of the Space Engineering Research Center at Texas A&M University and have been a judge at recent Business Plan Competitions. Most of these activities aren’t focused in Ottawa (or Canada), so I am excited to learn more about the innovation happening locally.
See you later today!!

Space development has always been a facsinating subject for me (I always watch those Discovery channel space shows). Hope I bump into you, I’d love to hear what projects you’ve worked on. If you ever need to visualize a concept or idea I’d love to work on it.
